Family and cooking are central for Carina.
Between science jobs in New Hampshire, Carina was chef-owner of Banana Leaf Catering with a portfolio of catering events ranging from small family dinners to 70-person corporate parties. The family moved to Massachusetts and Carina returned to laboratory research but she never gave up her desire to return to cooking full-time.
After a 25 year career as a scientist in the pharmaceutical industry she traded her lab coat permanently for an apron and started Carina is Cooking to do what she loves most and have more time at home with her family.
“After a quarter century doing research in diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease,
I am convinced that pharmaceuticals are not the answer for these chronic degenerative diseases.
Instead I believe good nutrition and lifestyle hold the key and its never too late to start.”
Carina and her husband, Lincoln, live in Sudbury. When Carina Is Cooking was started in 2015, their 3 children ranged in age from 4 to 24.
She loves music and is an Associate of the Trinity College of London with a diploma in classical piano performance. She tinkles the ivories with the choir at St. Anselm’s in Sudbury. Another favorite hobby is making all-natural soaps which are sold for direct contributions towards the St Vincent de Paul Society which helps the needy from all walks of life in our area.
Carina’s goal is to bring dinner home again for families on the run. Her cooking is centered on creating healthy family-style menus. These range from simply offering delicious favorites to draw a family around a dinner table to gluten-free, low-fat, anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense and plant strong cuisines. She employs fresh ingredients, smart alternatives, and proper cooking techniques to bring out the best in favorite dishes to new classics.
Carina continually explores new approaches to cooking and nutrition. She completed the T.Collin Campbell Foundation’s Plant Based Nutrition program through eCornell. She is an International Certified Food Safety Manager through the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals and a proud member of the US Personal Chef Association.
Testimonials
“There are so many benefits to Carina is Cooking. When I am running late from work, I don’t have to worry about rushing home and cooking. There is already a delicious healthy homemade meal that is ready to simply heat up. My husband can do it for himself and the kids if I am really late. This just happened the other day. But I knew I hit the jackpot when I got a text from my husband saying: “Wow she is an amazing cook!”

“The food is nutritious, fresh, and so tasty. You would be hard pressed to find better food in a restaurant. She has a wide variety of food on her menu and she can tailor it to your tastes. She picks up the groceries for you, and leaves your kitchen spotless after she cooks. My kitchen was cleaner than it was before she came. So pleasant, affable and professional. Overall a tremendous experience. Highly recommended!”

“I began using Carina’s Cooking in 2015. So far she has impressed me tremendously. There is always a wide array of options of food in my house from chicken pot pie to seared tuna with roasted red pepper sauce. She is accommodating to many different types of diets including gluten free and vegetarian. Additionally, she always communicates on time and is very professional.
I initially brought Carina in because I was coming out of the hospital and needed assistance. However, I do not see her leaving any time soon.”
